Things To Consider Before Installing Suspension Lift Kit

Of course, there are certain things that you will need to remember and always consider when you are installing a big suspension lift kit in your Hilux. Things are not going to be the same now. You wanted the best suspension lift kit for your car and now you have it.

It doesn’t really matter so much whether you are going for a top-notch brand or something that is unknown yet highly recommended by your local mechanic in the neighbourhood. All that is actually going to make a difference is how you install it and then what use you put it to. When you buy an accessory such as this, it is quite clear that you know what you are doing and are very well aware of what you will be getting out of it. But before you go all the way and unwrap the package and start installing the whole kit, ask yourself a few things.

The very first question that is going to pop up in your mind is the use you are going to put your Hilux to once you are done setting up the suspension lift kit. For example, lift kits are very highly suitable for someone who is fond of going on mud racing excursions or is willing to discover open country treks. You can install them if you are a slow-speed rock-crawling enthusiast or get your kicks from a high-speed desert racing competition.

And of course there are a lot of people who would install a suspension lift kit in their Hilux just for the heck of it. Don’t do that unless you really want to change the ride quality of the car or know well enough what all changes your vehicle is going to go through.

You need to know that your SUV or car is going to get completely altered when it comes to looks or even in terms of general drive quality and of course height, ground clearance, stability and balance and grip on the road as well. So, for all the people who thought that installing a big lift kit in their car was only a matter of external looks or superficial changes; think again!

Factors to Consider When Choosing Your Big Lift Kits

You could be nervous right now. You could be having second thoughts because this is your first time buying a lift kit for your Toyota Hilux. Everyone who is about to make this decision feels a little apprehensive and you can tell that they are having some doubts about this whole thing. When you want a different experience with your car and the ride quality, you are willing to make these alterations. And to tell you the truth, these are rather important.

But do bear in mind that the kind of suspension lift kit that will work best for you will depend on a lot of factors. ? Some of them are listed below:

  • The type of vehicle you are using
  • The specifications of the factory suspension
  • What purpose you are going to put the vehicle to after installing a big lift kit
  • What is your desired tire size
  • Eventually it will boil down to your budget as well

But that is not all. You will have to keep in mind certain other factors about the resultant ride quality of the car as well. When you choose to install a lift kit for Toyota Hilux you will have to pay attention to the following without fail:

  • Make sure the coil spring lift system maintains factory-like ride
  • Vehicle is lifted with leaf springs so that ride quality is slightly firmer than stock
  • Ride quality should not change noticeably on vehicles equipped with independent front suspension
  • The factory torsion bars, struts or coils should not be replaced
  • The shocks used should be properly valved because they too greatly impact ride quality
  • Do keep in mind the tire type you are aiming for after the modification
  • Their operating air pressure should not be higher than needed
  • Keep in mind that over-inflation reduces ride quality and causes uneven tire wear
  • Also make sure that the professional doesn’t over–tighten the suspension components. If done, ride quality may take a direct hit

All of this will need to be taken care of the by the mechanic or the store professional.
